This is a QotW answer Popular page on Off Topic for replies please
I've clicked two posts this week, and it's meaningless

This is a QotW answer Can we have some flowers or birds in the background to make it look pretty?
Just for when us female B3tans are hormonal.

This is a QotW answer Create a /fail leaderboard
'I like this' and the 'popular' page made b3ta better. Instead of relying on a select committee of a few mods to pick out the good stuff, suddenly everyone had a vote about what was good.

Let everyone decide what is shit too. Next to 'I like this' create a 'This post fails' link. There could could be a leaderboard per board, or just one huge aggregate of failures for the whole site. It would be interesting to see what ends up on it; a b3ta mood barometer if you will.

This is a QotW answer More RSS feeds please!
I'd really, really like it if there was an RSS feed for /links/popular/ (and /board/popular/ too, I suppose).

This is a QotW answer Minor niggle but
when you reply to an old thread, you will be redirected to the main board. I think it would be a bit more user friendly to take you back to the thread you were on so that you can see your post in place.

This is a QotW answer "I like this" on /talk
I would prefer it if it didn't show up in the "Friends" feed.

Takes all the fun out of it.

This is a QotW answer I think that in addition to the 7 day waiting period..
...new members should have to provide two references from other forums that they're members of.

I'd like to see this applied retrospectively.

This is a QotW answer Hiding
I can hide stuff on the board, but in the challenge entries it still comes up...

This can be very embarrasing

This is a QotW answer Bring back the manditory text in the message field.
Ever since you don't need to type anything in the message field I've seen and myself posted a load of double posts and/or half finished posts.

The space in the message field was my safety net and you guys stole that from me. Now I appear stupid in front of people online.

This is a QotW answer Questions... Answered
How about having another category (between Top Tips and Bugs and features), similar to Yahoo! Answers or 118118.

People with questions can post them, and helpful b3tards can answer. It's left as an exercise to the reader which answers actually contain snippets of truth.

This is a QotW answer May work, may not
But this is just a suggestion, Could it be possible if we had a facebook style toolbar at the bottom of the page, like b3ta chat and in-built favourite system, like facebook.

So yeah, tits

This is a QotW answer There's another site I post on which doesn't accept posts that are entirely in capital letters.
The site is completely free of tedious accounts where people pretend to be giant robots.

This is a QotW answer Can we have a "Save for Later" button?
Picture the scene: you're at work, and there's a long QotW post you want to read, or a video on /links that you want to watch, or something like that - but it's not convenient, so you decide to wait until you get home... where you have to trawl through pages of stuff to see what you want (if, indeed, you can remember what it was at all).

Could there be some kind of button near to the like/ reply buttons to act as a bookmark? You'd have a "saved for later" list on your profile of things from, say, the past week that you want to see, but haven't yet.

Does that make any sense at all? Would it require unreasonable amounts of coding?

This is a QotW answer Shorten /talk
I'd like to suggest that the number of recent threads on /talk is cut down- I think at the moment it shows something like 15 recent threads, which really is a bit OTT nowadays. I know when /talk moved slower it was possible to have a conversation until it fell off the board, but now anything below the halfway line is just extra loading time. I think 5 threads is more than plenty to show the last couple of hours- anything older than that should be pushed to the next page.

This is a QotW answer error on the Vote for a Change challenge
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SET votes=votes+1 WHERE id=9635146 AND votes=142' at line 1

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /var/www/b3ta.com/core/db_mysql.php:25) in /var/www/b3ta.com/core/voting.php on line 28

Thanks for voting for message 9635146!

edit: it seems to be working now

This is a QotW answer This could just be my complete ineptitude at all things b3ta,
but the 'delete image' button on 'my images' is always greyed out, and it would
be useful to have it working to tidy up some old and long forgotten images.
Even selecting the image, highlighting it doesn't change the delete button.
maybe it's just me being thick (more than likely)

This is a QotW answer PLEASE make it so we can't see people we have on ignore on the popular page!

(, Mon 17 Aug 2009, 16:33, 2 replies)
This is a QotW answer any chance we can switch off our qotw answers?
as much as I like telling my stories to people I don't like that someone can search my name and somehow show up on my b3ta profile - I wouldn't really care if it didn't have my qotw answers in my profile.

Is there any chance that people can remove stories/that segment of their profile if they want to?

This is a QotW answer Probably a dupe
But something to consider would be an active "Thumbs Up" (I like this!) or "Thumbs Down" (I don't like this).

Just so we can see for every post how many people have clicked or negatively clicked! Some posts genuinely deserve an "I Don't Like This". It would be great to see "58 people liked this" "12 people didn't".

.....Yep

This is a QotW answer some editors for /links
not mods, just editors with the power to remove obvious 'gc' links. this has been a problem for a while now, but seeing as links has become almost as popular (and at times as fast moving as) /board it's getting quite annoying to see 'keyboard cat three moons t-shirt' for the 5th time or b3ta.com/links/Man_accuses_cat_of_downloading_bad_porn . they could also have the power to mark posts nsfw or remove shock-sites. i know that some people have not seen a link before and don't mind, but perhaps removing duplicate posts might encourage people to look at the popular page before posting and slow the board down a bit.

internets serious business etc

as discussed here, would be handy.

This is a QotW answer Accidentally printing the whole of /board.
...as per www.b3ta.com/board/9626301

It's probably all tied up in Firefox's code, but is there any way you can make the whole messageboard harder to send to print?

I like the current batch, but we've had them for around a year now and some fresh ones would be good.

This is a QotW answer Get rid of the \all function
The best answers should win and having this function means people can manipulate the voting and pimp for votes to ensure they win. Its only fair people don't know what's on the Best Of page until the question closes. Get shot of this function now so we can get on with the real thing for QOTW; reading the lot and voting for the ones you like. Thats about it really.
