as you say, it's coffee made at a high pressure, not (as many pubs seem to think) very strong, watery instant coffee.

It means 'expressed' not 'express'!!!??!!!

Also, publicans, 'espresso' does not mean 'less filter coffee' for the same price if not more than a full cup.
