This is a QotW comment I thought so too!!
And I also thought slow cars, like my mum's Mini, had less travel in the accelerator than fast cars, like the Lamborghini Countach on the poster in my bedroom. Reason being, I knew if you floored it, the car went faster, so my reasoning went the more space between the pedal and the floor, the faster the car could go.

This is a QotW comment Car Physics
I learned all I knew about the physics of cars from The Dukes Of Hazzard. Thus, until I was about ten, in order to slow a car down, you pressed hard on the steering wheel. I think footwell cameras wouldn't have been prime-time enough.
